Re: Whoa training after learning sit...@$&#%!!!!!!
First I have far less experience than those that have responded. When you only train a dog every 5 or 10 years, you just don't see enough dogs to not make new mistakes with each dog. That being said I don't teach sit till later on because of the problems it can cause. I also error on the side of not...

Re: Black GSP'S
The breed club and akc allows DK's to be registered as gsp's. Thus they allow black to be registered since some are black. However they don't want black to become the prominent color so they haven't allowed black in the show ring. The field trial people don't add DK's to their lines so you generally...

He may widen and chest drop a little more and gain a little more as he does that.
He isn't skinny. I can't see any ribs in that picture. With a shorthair it's alright to see a little rib.

One eats 4 cups, total
Two eat 2.5 cups, total
Measure the food
Weigh the dog

Don't really think even at what I paid that a breeder is making money. My last pup, took two trips to Georgia and ended up with 2 pups. I'm sure those 2 pups were 5 or 10 thousand a piece. I paid $1200. Thinking I got the best end of the deal. One of the breeders I know trains and guides. I'm thinki...

My dogs are at about 6 or 8 mph depending on the terrain. By 25 to 28 miles they are tired. Usually don't hunt them more than 4 hours. If I'm going to hunt all day I only put one down then switch them out.

I've heard of some pretty good prices on FT washouts. Often it's not enough range which most foot hunters don't want anyway. Well bred and partly trained.

Paid $25. For my first shorthair, backyard litter. Paid $1200 for my last, really nice litter. My guess is it was done by people that had a real need to win. Not sure they believed they were going to win in AA all breed trials but they probably did. At the very least they wanted to win in breed specific trials. CJ had a good point about what it did for the gsp breed. I think the American gsp'...

I think cj's suggestions are good. Some gsp's become escape artists. But it should work for a while. Eventually the pup will figure out that the top of the crate is half way to the top of the xpen.

I always use 2.5 sec update the batteries last a couple days 3 or 4 half days. That works for me. Mine seems more like 6 or 7 seconds. It's fast enough that I watch it for a couple seconds to see if they start moving. If they do it was a bathroom break.
