I don't disagree with what you are saying but for the receiver to come off in the field on the first hunt indicates the rivots or whatever didn't do the job. I would think that if their product is quality, and I'm not arguing that point, they would know that's not normal and from a CS standpoint hon...

My hunting partner purchased a Dogtra 2500T&B. The second time in the field the receiver fell off the collar, and was never found. This happened after about 4/5 hours in the field. He contacted Dogtra and was ultimately told "we don't cover lost product". They did offer to sale another one for 1/2 p...

Nice pup. Personally I don't think you have any worries at all. All puppies mature at different times. The pup is birdie. I would lay off birds for a few weeks and just take him out for walks and let him explore. This will allow him to mature a little more, and help build confidence. Then try bird a...

Just for my clarification, the Edge has different buttons for each dog so running two dogs in the field there is no switching toggles, just select the right button correct? I know it has a toggle for N/C/L/V but to me those are preset mostly for the way I use the collar. The RT you must flip the tog...

Hunted with a lot of pointers that retrieved. I believe it's important to train to hunt dead bird. You can train a shepherd to retrieve why wouldn't you think you can't train a pointer! FF is FF regardless of breed.

I use e-collar and I want my dog to have a conditioned response to the whistle. To me it doesn't matter if the dog is on scent or not, a dog that is conditioned appropriately will do so. If the dog is associating the scent to a stim, I haven't done my job to teach and condition to the command.

Trapping it is just her way of knowing she has it, and playing with it. Use clipped wing bird, she will eventually pick it up and carry it. I would lay off a week and try again. Re: High energy lab?
I am wondering if the dog was ever obedience trained? From the sounds of it, you need to OB train the dog just as if it was a 6 month old dog. Back on leash, or check cord working commands. One command at a time until the dog knows the command and obeys it over 80% of the time. Then collar condition...

Get a reputable program and follow it. But a simple answer is collar condition when the dog knows the command. Learn about collar conditioning. The e-collar is used to reinforce a command that is ALREADY known.

Try not doing OB training for a few days and let her drag the CC outside. The dog may be thinking CC equals OB training or some type of pressure. Might be anticipating the commands. Try using live birds (pigeons) to increase drive and see what happens.
