Re: house dog
I have never understood the thinking behind this so-called myth. I can't imagine why a dog's hunting instinct or drive has anything to do with whether it is an inside or outside dog. If anything, I would think a house dog would likely be more bonded to its handler and do better in the field.

Re: Brittany - Size Question
This is what happens when breeders ignore the breed standard. Ezzy I don't know where this statement comes from. My breeder has been involved with Brittanys for more than 40 years, in both show and field, and are very well-respected in the Brittany community. A breeder cannot 100% control what come...

My second Britt is now 10 months old and has completed her first heat cycle. Will she grow anymore at this point? She is so tiny compared to my other female. Garmin Collar compatibility question
I have a 6-7 year old Garmin Astro 220 with the DC30 collar. I got a new puppy a few months ago and would like to buy a collar for her. Questions are as follows: 1) What is the latest collar that will work on the 220? The DC40? DC50? At some point I know the collars don't work on the older Astro 220...

Bladder Stones in my Brittany
My 6 year old dog started peeing in her crate and unexpectedly on the carpet over the past 24 hours or so. Went to the vet today and x-rays show several large bladder stones and she has a urinary tract infection as well. He gave her antibiotics and special food to eat for a month that can help reduc...

I went hunting for a few days with a friend who has an 18 month old female GWP/Dratthar. Peeing in the house during heat
Ginger started a heat cycle a little over a week ago and appears to be in estrus now. Anyway, in about the last 7-14 days, she has crapped on the living room floor, peed on my bed, then a few days later peed on my daughter's bed, and then last night peed on my son's bed. I don't recall this in prior...

Unless there is something the trainer is not telling you, it sounds to me that the dog has had too much pressure for too long and is associating the action of the gun with unpleasant routines. Charlie +1. Also, use or borrow an o/u next time too - nothing that racks. But I think something happened.

What about if you rack a shell... is it the same? I wonder if the trainer is putting too much pressure on her and she has made that association. I'd give it a rest a little while and then start over with simple gun intro.
