Some really interesting stuff Bill.....especially the past reputation of being hard to train as most I have seen (mostly videos and my own pup) seem to be pretty biddable little dogs. One thing for sure is the past breeders (and current) of these little dogs did a bang up job in keeping the dogs wor...

Bill....did they love to work 30 years ago also?
I am curious if breeding over the past 30 years has brought them where they are today or if they were the same dog 30 years ago.

Great to see the little American Cocker doing real work! I could barely talk my husband into a field bred English Cocker because his memories of cockers when he was growing up was that of a useless hunting dog. He now gives the little field bred cockers his respect but still looks down on the Americ...

It was only about 6 weeks ago I was asking the same question. The first difference I notice in these two videos is that the dogs temperament seems to be quite different. In the first video (Higgins) the dog appears to be soft where in the second video the dog seems more confident not sure that it makes a difference but I would think the approach on these two d...

I can relate with what the OP is going through with this pup. I also went through various methods (buckle, prong, choke, heeling stick) to get my now 8 month old walking on a loose leash. Although I did purchase the prong and there is no doubt my dog was a different dog when she wore it I personally...

I went Sunday and checked everything out. I was afraid that fear biting could result from this as I am sure the dog is completely confused. I feel very bad for this dog but am also afraid of what the dog may do to other dogs and people out of fear and confusion

Not as simple as you think. The reality is the USBCC was the parent club and they did not petition AKC for registry but rather opposed it! You can read more here if interested in AKCs underhanded tactics.
