Vail, Colorado
Hi All, I will be spending a few days in Vail, Colorado during the month of September. Are there any hunting opportunities in the region? I am not asking for honey holes just a general guidance so I know where to look for.
Thanks a lot for any advice.

Re: Pheasants
Yes, my question was more related to pheasant's behavior than anything else, but I appreciate everybody's input anyway. I'm aware 5 days in very little time for the dog to figure them out.
Pheasants
Hi All, I have a 2 1/2 years old pudelpointer. We went to SD last November and saw a lot of birds, but it was difficult for him stop the running roosters. He pointed some hens and some roosters, but a lot of them just never stoped running and you could see this was a struggle for him. We were there ...

Re: E collar and force fetching
Two questions - Training: Has the dog been force fetched without the collar yet? Collar: Sounds like your collar isn't much good. Sportdogs are known for being a very high quality collar. I would look something else, I prefer dogtra. Yes, he´s been forced fetched without the collar. I am trying to ...

E collar and force fetching
Hi everybody, I have a 2 years old pudelpointer. I am working on force fetching at this moment. The ecollar I am using is a sportdog 1825. The challeng I have is that if I set the stimulation at level 2 it doesn't seem strong enough, but if I crank it up to 3 then it seems like it is too much becaus...

Re: GWP and DD
I guess if I want a dog that ranges 75 and 150 yards that checks on me really often I should go with either the DD or the DK.

GWP and DD
What's the difference between the GWP and the Deutsche Drahthaar? Are they same breed? The same goes with the GSP and the Deutsche Kurzhaar.
I am little bit confused with this. Thanks

Questions about pheasants
Hi everybody, I have a pudelpointer that is 16 months old. I took it to Montana on September for 15 days. We hunted mostly sharptails and some huns. The first 2 days were difficult because he was getting too close to the birds and flushing them. But he got better everyday and at the end of the trip ...

Re: Whoa command
Thanks a lot for your advice. I see that I am making all the mistakes you have mentioned. As soon as my dog is on point I would walk toward him saying whoa and then walk by him to flush. As soon as I do this he walks with me. I will try walking around him to see what happens. Thank you very much. Be...

Whoa command
I got a question for you guys with more experience than me. I've been using the whoa command to steady my dog when he is on point because he has a tendency to creep in. But I've noticed that his points lose a little bit of intensity once I whoa in. Is this normal? My other question is this. When tra...
