I am brand new to all of this and starting with a 4 yr old weim who's never hunted. I've been advices to check out the perfect start dvd and the book training with Mo, which I'll do. But was also told to first check my dog's bird drive and see if I have anything to work with or see if I can amplify ...

I've had many fosters over that age that have turned into good birddogs. Weims certainly can have some bird drive, but a lot of them do not (just like a lot of labs don't like to retrieve anymore). Just adopted a 5 yr old Weimaraner that's never hunted. Anybody think there is hope to train her? Any recommended resources to get started? I'm new to this.
