Re: Finding my young pup some wild birds
At 8 months I wouldn't worry about just finding wild birds. He just needs "birds" and the more the better. A local game farm would be convenient and probably less expensive. Then during the season you can get him on the real thing. At his age even pigeons would be a good option. Don't worry about c...

Re: E-collar with tracking
I definitely think they have there place and pleased that we have such technology. With all the roads here, I like the ability to get the corrections made fast. Each system works flawlessly, I just feel pre occupied. Digging the phone out of my pocket Wednesday night when the pup and I came across a...

Re: E-collar with tracking
I'm not sold on the gps units... From what I've noticed the last 2 weeks, to much time spent looking at the phone or handheld. In a month I want to be looking down shotgun barrel instead of electronics. Just my observation and what works best for us. Easy solution...put the receiver or phone in you...

I'm not sold on the gps units. Have the pathfinder and alpha, the old Dogtra 2500 T&B is so much easier. I'm sure the gps would come in handy at some point. Re: Pheasants for green-broke dogs?
Take them to the birds. In a month I will be on my 4th "started pointer," change there names and let it get use to its new surroundings for a week. Then is right to wild pheasants. Early mornings when the birds are on the road, drop the dog out down wind and let them go. After a couple weeks of that...

Re: Sportdog Tek 2.0 Thoughts/Other E-Collar Suggestions
I was not a fan. Ran it for a month.
I'm a Dogtra fan and the Pathfinder is a solid product. Fast, google maps and simple to use. The only concern I have is this winter.... cold and cat tails. The price is right and it's Dogtra.

Re: What's the most you've spent on a dog?
I've spent the last 2 months searching for a 6-12 month old EP. Compared to 2 years ago the prices have doubled. I paid $1500 for a 6 month old female.
In talking to some of the top handlers and breeders the bird population in Texas is what's driving the price.

Hi all, curious to know if any of you have seen Reb trial. To me is he is a specimen of an animal. I was able to find a female pup out of him and a Ransom/millers Martha White female. If anyone has any feedback on any of the dogs I would love to hear it. I shopped a ton of dogs and kept coming back ...

Just had a pair of pointers delivered from ball park kennels.
Heather did an outstanding job, the dogs looked great. Great communication in the delivery. Very happy with her.

Re: What to expect from new EP
The pup has not be delivered yet. After my 7 year old CLJ female tore up both her back knees I needed a dog for this fall.
Hope he is full of nose and drive.
Still curious if Anyone has hunted behind a HT gigolo offspring.
Thanks

Hello,
I just purchased a 6 month old male pointer out of Erin's Red Rum and a Honky Tonk Gigolo female. Do any of you have experience with offspring from HT gigolo?

Hello from SoDak
Just joined the forum after buying a started pointer from Scott Turner. I have been fortunate to grow up in excellent upland hunting country. I work in the ag business and a custom rifle builder. EP's have been by my side for over 20 years. As my 2 kids get older, I would like to get started in fiel...
