Re: Dreaded 4th of July

In my old age I must say I am more of a dog fan then a fireworks fan :D I feel for the stressed out animals. In my neck of the woods on the fourth of July I don't think I heard a pop these past couple years. - On the fourth. :D I love Independence Day and what it stands for and proudly display my f...

Dreaded 4th of July

All of my hunting dogs have hated fireworks. The town goes crazy every 4th with illegal fireworks and our local police refuse to enforce the law. Wish they would just limit sales to what is legal to begin with. It's a county/city thing. The county allows anything(that's where people buy them) and th...

By yourself a conibear and practice release. Use a teddy bear or something. Gain confidence.

I run a flushing dog that works in close. I could never get any of my setters to stay close enough in the thick woods.

Re: They finally caught him. Roysetters

Geezus Wyo give it a rest... It's fun to read these bird dog forums. They can be helpful & entertaining when jonesing to get out in the field or in my case the hills. Brad has personally covered my "bleep" when I needed it most and I'm convinced he would do it for any of his members. I respect him ...

Re: Arizona quail

It only took seeing a town I liked to hunt near get over ran from people talking about it on a few forums. I even PM'ed a few of them to take the name of the town down to no avail. The landowner we used to get access from says she went from no calls 3 years ago, to a few dozen calls this year. So y...

Re: They finally caught him. Roysetters

Glad to see this guy get his comeuppance. I have been a member of UJ for 7 years and I am sick of old Roy's posts about how he saw "thousands" of pheasants here", etc. Glad he is is banned for 2 yrs. UJ's owner protects his contributing members from the riff-raff. Any criticism of his big donors get...

Re: Idaho Forest Grouse Opener

Chased blue grouse here in SW MT on friday and sat. Not a single flush in some usually dependable areas. Ran into a bow hunter who said he saw zero birds as well. It has been very dry. Got rained out today and sunday. Doubt that will help. Bird numbers appear to be very low this year.

Re: A little about you...

My name is Steve Hunts(really!). I'm 55 and have trained dogs for about 40 years. Right now I have 2 english setters and live in Bozeman, MT(20 yrs). Life long fisherman and big game hunter as well. Generally more of a lurker than a contributor. Quickly tire of people who post about how Montana is t...
