Re: Finally no more prolific ear infection (my Brit)

Sorry I should have come back earlier.. I had tried beef / chicken / and finally fish pro plan... fish was the best in terms of ear infections but they were still too much. I now am feeding Blue Buffalo Basics limited ingredient grain free formula, Lamb and potato. It took about a week for his ears ...

Finally no more prolific ear infection (my Brit)

I’ll tell you what, I never thought that corn, rice, and chicken in dog food was such a problem. I was feeding pro-plan, even went to sensitive skin fish type and he still had issues. I got a bag of blue diamond grain free (no corn, rice,or chicken) - and wow... 3 days later the dog is what he shoul...

Re: First time e-collar and very uncomfortable

Ok I have a 10 month old Brittany and just broke him in on the collar. First - Collars have changed from "zappers" to "simulators" If you put one on your forearm on it's lowest setting it's going to make your muscles spasum but it doesn't hurt... It just feels wired. So un wire you "this is evil " c...

Re: 50lb Brittany... Good or bad

Guys I'm not a breeder, contextually wanted feedback on running the dog. I hunt in Kansas and with the lack of quail in the last decade I'm fine with a bigger Brittany (nI think). As long as he's a happy loving smuck, that enjoys the heck out of hunting we are perfect together. I did wonder how guys...

He's not fat, but I haven't run him as hard as I would like.

He's solid as a rock

Re: Needs Some Puppy Crate/sleep Advice

Peanut butter in a knog while in the kennel isn't a bad thing either.

My dog hated his kennel because the floor was slippery and his back legs would spread... A blanket fixed that.

I make sure the kennel is a safe haven, I put towels that have been with mom in there, and never pull them out of it... He has to want to come out...

Just make sure no one in the family rewards bad behavior My wifey has a small lap mongrel, the new Brittany pup who quickly exceeded the weight of the 2.5 year old dog .... Well the older dog started defending itself when puppy big dog started stomping around - mom felt bad for the little dog so whe...

Re: Growling

One thing to try, have your son feed him by hand ....don't put the food down at all, and put the food in a coat pocket and feed it by hand....

It might be more about the dog under stand the kid is giving him food vs. he has to fight to keep it.

Re: Perfect start perfect finish dvd's

I'm definitely going to get bird launchers, and use birds... I bought the perfect start DVD, I tried ordering if from the maker but they only sell it through the gundogsupply now so I had to re-order it... So I haven't gotten it yet. I'll definitely check out the clinic, they are only 1.5 hours driv...

Re: Harassment while training dogs legally on public land

Video from your phone, walk up to the plate, and the people so you get their faces.

Ask them to leave you alone while your doing it, and turn the video into the cops.. And ask that they press charges.

Re: When to switch puppy to adult dog food

Thanks for the feedback, I hadn't consider those as an option... Truth is mom (wifey) wanted to move to adult food mostly because the pup keeps licking the bowl of the other dog (different food).. But I more focused on nutrition impacts, so I want to weight until he's 8 months old before I start mov...

Re: Whistle training help

I didn't see this mentioned but ... Disclaimer - this could be completely the wrong thing to do. - it worked for me though... I used to use a specific whistle to get the dog to stop and look at me, at which point I'd give a directional command by motioning with my hand in a direction like I was thro...

Re: New Brittany on its way

Congrat's, on the new pup.

I'm 5 months into my new Brittany Pup as well..

the experience question is a good one ... I had to make some adjustments to how I've handled dogs with my new Britt pup.. So knowing background, and situation will probably help folks to give constructive guidance.

Perfect start perfect finish dvd's

I am starting to realize I know less than I thought I did so I'm looking for a dvd set from a trainer to get me some better foundation.

This one seems to have pretty wide acceptance, and a good deal of fans.

Should I look else where, or add onto getting these?

Thanks,
Spot

When to switch puppy to adult dog food

I've heard many answers to this question.

Some say x months, others say when they have thier adult teeth...

What else should I be considering.

Thanks,

Best things to do (and not to do) with a TT15 collar

I just picked up the Alpha and TT15 for my dog...

they have more stuff than they had before - let me know (so I am less likely to screw up) what works greate, and what is a waste of time.

Recommend a few steps

Hello, I have a new Brittany pup, he'll be 5 months old this week. I've done a fair bit of work with him, and he follows what he is told (unless he's just got scolded for stealing a slipper... Then he doesn't want to come to the scene of the crime ...) He fetches, sits, stays, settle, drop it, ... ....

New member hello from Spotshooter

Hello everyone, I just joined, and this is my first post. I'm originally from upstate New York and grew up hunting ruffed grouse (hence spot shooter)... My family had a few Brittany's when I was growing up, but I never hunted behind them because we stopped having dogs due to the fall off in pheasant...
