Re: what is the ultimate dog for chukars?

My dogs are fine till I get up in the lava rock. Really tears up their pads. Are there dogs that have feet that handle lava? I have a few chukar hunting friends, (yes, it's hard to believe that I have friends  ) that make sure that when they buy a pup that the pups pads are black for this ver...

Re: My dog result of inbreeding

I really enjoy these threads. It always sends me to do a lot of research. People speak ill of linebreeding primarily because geneticists do. That doesn't mean that it cannot be done, bit linebreeding always leads to a loss of genetic diversity. The reason it is frowned on is inbreeding depression, a...

Re: My dog result of inbreeding

Well, I was going to post this article by Tom whiting about the difference between the Herbert and the Whiting fly tying lines. But of course I cannot find the article. Ugghhh...I found it two nights ago.... To paraphrase he talks about the Hoffman line being primarily inbred by the time he gets it....

Ranking upland Gamebirds.

All, I got this thread going on a different board and have really enjoyed the responses. I was surprised by the one ranking of a lot of respondents. I was hoping to see if this board was any different. So rank your favorite upland targets and a brief explanation as to why. My ranking is as follows: ...

Re: Video of my Griff getting some smelly bird action.

Sharon, trust me, I get it. Everything about that farm is set up to produce wild pheasants and valley quail. We put some food plots in and wanted to see how the birds wintered. The only activity on that farm the last couple of weeks is plowing under cheat grass for the food plots and setting up the ...

No doubt. I would love to go hunting with you. For a minute I thought you were CW from the fisheries experiment station in Logan. I then looked at the dogs and realized everything was l wrong.

What hunting trip or destination do you dream about?

For me, hunting pheasants in SD is the trip I still dream about often. I have gone to SD many times since the 1990's. I love it, we always hunted without a dog. Now that I have a dog, I would like to taje a different kind of trip there and explore the northern part of the State. I have an abundance ...

Re: A little about you...

I am an avid upland game hunter. I grew up hunting pheasants, but since moving to Idabo, I have become a much more active chukar and hun hunter. I have a 2 year old wirehaired pointing griffon female named Kola. She is a great pheasant dog. I live in Meridian Idaho. I love the diversity of bird hunt...

Re: Mile Post 9 Trial Grounds - Idaho

Thanks for the pictures. This fire burned up three of my favorite spots. I hunted just south of the burn this uear. While driving through the burn, I saw chukars. They are wonderfull survivors and the rocks provide the needed protection and grenup was great.

Sage hens are a different story.
