When I looked into the the procedure a couple of years ago, I was able to find a vet through www.parsemus.org We spoke on the phone and I learned my pup was a poor candidate because she has false pregnancies. The AKC stopped publishing total numbers of registrations around 2010 I think since it was becoming too obvious that they were in steep decline. Now they only publish a list of breeds in order of popularity (I think that the actual numbers may be available in the year end report issued to members.....

Additional raw animal fat the night before is the best source of energy for a dog. Adding fish oil for additional Omega 3 helps to balance the Omega 6 found in most animal fats. Capsules are best as Omega 3 are fragile and rapidly oxidize once exposed to air. Glucose "energy packs" provide a sugar r...

Having the dog walk in (on command) with handler for the flush is common in Europe. Obviously that's not going to get you a ribbon in a trial or test but, hunting I can see the merit. One thing I've noticed in Brad's video's is the dogs often seem to be creeping on, or crowding the bird. A follower ...

I really wanted to love mine, but, I wore it once and sold it. I think either will serve you well. I've seen quite lot of variation in coat (length, density) especially with the PP.
While sharpness exists, I think much of it can be moderated through dedicated socialization and exposure starting before pup leaves the breeder.
Good luck!

All you need to know about autoloaders is buy one that begins with a B Benelli, Beretta, Browning. Whatever you do, don't buy a Mossberg semi.
I killed a few ducks with my nephew's Beretta A300 Outlander last weekend, it's nice gun that should make your budget if you shop carefully.

I imagine you are in over $2000 for the dog + training, I'd make the drive and go see where the puppy is at, training and healthwise. I think it's a red flag for trainer to discourage an owner from seeing their dog. Especially when they ask for more time/money- I don't like the smell of that.

I see the cue to flush as similar to what is practiced in France- once the hunter draws even with the dog, they walk in to the bird, together.

I've never thought about heart shot doves. My bowhunting deer experience has shown me that a heart shot deer can run pretty far in the 10 or 12 seconds it takes them to expire. Take out one or two of the big vessels at the top of the heart and it's down in 5 seconds.

Good to hear things are getting better. Long term, a change in diet is probably best for your dog. High fiber vegetables like pumpkin only make poop fluffier, not firmer. Digestible raw meat and bone produce the firm, compact, turds that allow the glands express naturally.
