You've gotten some good advice here. Stop what you are doing and take it.

I hate the idea of an 8 month old pup blinking birds. Shut up, let'm flush/chase if that's what it takes for pup to regain her confidence.

I like a bell in thick cover.

Mine wears the bell at 7-8 o'clock so it doesn't ring when the hound is sneaking around. I look at the GPS when the bell goes silent.

If you like quiet, go to a NAVHDA hunt test. The best dogs work on a single command, multiple commands, whistles and hand signals earn deductions.

One thing to consider if you think you'll be done with launchers in short order- the easiest dog training item to sell is used electronic launchers. Start scouring the various boards, ebay etc. you might find a couple.

Another option is to join a club or NAVHDA chapter, most have equipment to share.

What about the cheaper manual releases that you use your foot. Will they get the job done for someone on a budget? First things first, you must abide possession limits (usually 2x the daily limit). If you filet a fish, leave the skin on and make sure the len...

Sounds like you are well on your way to having a first rate flushing dog. Nothing wrong with rabbits, just make him remain steady. Taking out preserve birds isn't the bird's fault, it's yours.

Allowing the dog to be successful at whatever he chooses, is all the reinforcement he needs.
