Re: quail question
Thanks shags. That is how we are doing our setup. Away from my house and dogs. I should have said spooky instead of wild. That is what I am trying for. Not a lot of light and try and feed and water at night. I know I will have to tinker around with my setup. I have been able to visit a few places an...

Re: quail question
Thanks everyone. I figured they might not be great fliers. I have seen some bob whites the same way. Our issue is we do not have a lot of options where I am at but to hunt pen raised birds. Our wild bird population is very little. I know it will be a work in progress but I want to try and get these ...

quail question
I am fixing to start hatching out bobwhite quail and chukar and seen a video about Tibetan quail. He said people used them to train with and was wondering if anyone on here has ever used them. They are a Coturnix breed so I was wondering how good they really fly. I know a lot depends on how the quai...

GSP history question
Anyone know a good place to read about different GSP bloodlines? I would like to learn more about different lines. Looking for characteristics, conformation, or anything else I could read. I am just wanting to learn more of a history of the breed.

Re: Tracking collars and e-collar combos
Thanks Ray. That is pretty much what I have settled on. I was going to eventually get the Astro and use a separate e-collar. After seeing the Alpha this past weekend I can see where it could cause issues while training. Thanks for the response.

Re: Tracking collars and e-collar combos
Thanks Greg, I was able to see a Garmin Alpha over the weekend. It gave me a little more of an idea of how it worked.

Tracking collars and e-collar combos
I asked a while back about buying a new e-collar (still looking) but had a question about e-collar and tracking combos. I have been looking at the Garmin Alpha combo. After reading some reviews from a training a pup stand point would you go with the Alpha or have a separate tracking system and a sep...

hunt with my boys
Took my boys out with my pup to get some more bird exposure. Watched my oldest shoot a couple quail for another guys dog. I was very happy to see my pup find a couple of quail. It was a great day for some family time and hunting time.

e-collar and bird launcher
I am looking to buy an e-collar and a remote bird launcher. I have been looking at the Tri-Tronics Sport PRO by Garmin. Since being new any recommendations on e-collar and remote bird launchers? The e-collar would have to be expandable for multiple dogs also.
Thanks
Daniel

I know these are very basic questions but I am also very new to all of this so I go to ya'll for help. I can't learn if I don't ask. My pup is 10 weeks old today at what point do you start working on simple recall for his name? What do you do to teach him his name? Also retrieving? He will retrieve ...

Re: Introduction to Water
Thanks for all the replies. I don't know of any lepto around. We are in Alabama so it's hot here. I have just been taking him over there along with my dad's lab and just let him wonder. He gets close to the water but still isn't sure. I figured doing retriever work with the lab might entice him more...

At what age do you let your pups start getting into ponds? Do they need to have all their shots first?

new puppy
I am going to be getting my first GSP puppy Saturday. I am new to the gundogs but looking forward to it. One question I had was regarding toys. I believe I seen somewhere on here about not buying toys that squeak. What is the reason behind it? I know they can be annoying but anything else. Also any ...
