I have a male gsp. also 15 months. He held 44.6lbs from 9 months till 13 months and i was feeding proplan. Very toned but never had "weight". I am a hypochondriac about my dogs health so it bothered me for the longest. I switched to diamond naturals and hes up to 50 and still built well. I have a 6m...

Back story. I picked up a second GSP from a pretty well known plantation. He is now 5 months old and up to date on EVERYTHING. Thursday night he was fine running marks and what not. He's B.S.ing you trainers the same way he did the owner. You guys are professionals? Don't put up with the dog's crap. Put a choke collar on dog and heel him. This is very easy to fix. Do not let him come all the way in to you. Make him respect your space and make him stand up. Basically make him respect you. Sometimes you have to be pretty rough. Once he stays out of your space and respects you training can proceed as you would normally train sit. It ta...

IMO most "breeders" are clueless. They just have a bunch of dogs they breed, and dont really do a lot with their current dogs. Do you have any idea how many days you have to hunt to effectivley use 6-8 dogs. A LOT. Stay away from breeders IMO, I buy pups from dedicated people that actively hunt/tri...

I would be very suspect that the lady or more likely someone that thinks they are a 'trainer' used to much pressure on the dog. Maybe an e-collar, pinch collar, or 'healing stick' all great training tools but when used improperly they will ruin a potentially good dog. If it were me I would return t...

How old is your dog? What training has he completed? One of the most common mistakes people make is they try to use the collar to teach the dog new commands, it should be used only to reinforce commands your dog already does 90% of the time. The second most common mistake with collars is people who...

I introduced the collar pretty young. Never used stimulation until basic obedience was solid. I used the beep/vibrate as a que starting out. Then it was a light nick with commands. I didn't really introduce true collar pressure until force fetch.

Re: new pup contract question

My breeder has a contract. His is pretty much insurance if you are unhappy with the pup but also says that you agree to train or have the dog trained for hunting/trial purposes. He does not breed lap dogs and does not want his good bloodline pups to become that. He requires annual check-ins per say.

Also which do you prefer?

I have tried avery and mud river. The shape of a GSP isnt really ideal for a vest. The medium fits his chest but not neck or body. Small fits body and neck but nearly takes his breath.

Hello all. My name is Will. I'm from around Savannah Georgia. I am pretty new to gun dogs. After plenty of guided trips I decided to jump on in and pick up a GSP. So far so good. 15 weeks old and beyond smart.
