Heel Work

Working basic obedience with my Vizsla pup. She is 6 months now and is bird crazy. I am keeping training sessions short but daily. She is introduced to ecollar, has a pretty solid recall(every once in awhile if she is distracted will need a nick and then will come fine), her woah is getting better a...

Re: Dual Training Birds and Sheds

CDN_Cocker, Thanks for the response. I am just looking for an excuse to get more woods time with my Vizsla. We primarily hunt Moose Sheds up here and they are found in the old timber harvesting areas full of slash. So kind of a different habitat then the bird covers we will be in in the fall. I cert...

Cabelas Gun Dog Ecollar

Anyone have one? if so, how do you like it and how has it held up? Wife bought me a new one, have had the old Sport Dog for years and was starting to show it. Still worked well but battery life was getting terrible. Long story short, I was going to buy a Tritronics (garmin) but she bought me this as...

Re: Dual Training Birds and Sheds

Sharon, Thanks for the response. You are right, no comments yet. I have noticed that there are some post on here about dogs doing both birds and sheds, but the posts aren't clear about when they started the dogs on shed, whether it was during the same time as birds or after they were finished on bir...

Re: Basic Obedience. How much?

Appreciate all the responses. I have been keeping sessions short and fun and let her get out and "hunt" in between commands. She is doing very well with recall and whoafor her age. I am going to start her on heel as well. I have also been carrying a tennis ball on me and getting her excited with it ...

Re: Basic Obedience. How much?

She is 6 months old and she will be a house dog. My dogs in the past have lacked some in the obedience department and I don't want to make that mistake with this one.

Basic Obedience. How much?

Hi all, Currently still building the foundation with my 6 month old vizsla and getting her basic obedience down. My question for everyone is how much do you guys train at once? Do you master one command before you move to the next or do you work on them all for a short time instead of working one fo...

Dual Training Birds and Sheds

Hi All, I frequent the forum daily but don't post much. I have done some looking and cant find the answer to my question so would like to see what you all have to say. I am currently training a 6month old Vizsla pup who is doing very well. She is recalling well, been collar conditioned(just started ...
