Re: Keeping dog in kennel

Mine stays in a kennel when I’m not home or sleeping. We try to never leave him in there for longer than 8 hours without getting him out for at least a half hour. When we are home and awake he is in the fenced in back yard.

Re: What type of shotgun are you using for your bird hunts?

Ruger Red Label 12 or Benelli M1 super 90 depending on the weather and what I am hunting. I have also got a Stevens 20 side by side that sees a little action occasionally.

Re: Boykin Meets Dove

I've only seen one Boykin in the field out here in Idaho. The little guy was like the Ever ready Bunny, he just kept moving all the time. They seem to be a great dog for most of our terrain and waters. Their range for a walking hunter seems to be perfect and they definitely cover ground. My only co...

Re: Paying Attention

Took my Boykin Spaniel pup for his first hunt, but the doves were flying high after 3 days of heavy pressure in this particular field, but I managed to bag one late in the morning. That's when I noticed my dog wasnt paying any attention, he was trying to chew on leaves and sniff everything. I'm sur...

My 14 month old Boykin retrieved a few pheasants and a handful of quail last year but he met his first dove this weekend. 22 of the to be exact. He did great.

You can't ask for much more than that. My 14 month old Boykin will be going on his first dove hunt this afternoon.

Re: Smartworks

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting in the forum. I have a 13 week old Boykin Spaniel and this is my first hunting dog and therefore also my first time training one. I'm not looking to speed through this process, but I have noticed he seems to be a very fast learner and has a lot of drive...

Re: A little about you...

My name is Jarod. I have been lurking on the forum for a while soaking up all the info that I can. I have a 13 month old Boykin named Henry that is awesome. I have taken him on several preserve quail hunts and let him retrieve at a couple of pheasant tower shoots. I tried to put him on some some duc...
