Here's Ruby, she's 7 months old now. We're working on "whoa" but kind of looks like a point. A butterfly had her attention. Not a point but hopefully that's ok.

Pointing dog trainer in OH, MI, IN

I'm looking for a trainer within a 2 hour drive of Toledo, OH. I'm looking for someone to get her pointing and holding birds. I'll finish her myself, just don't have the time needed to start her. She'll be whoa broke when I send her for training. I used Crosswind Kennel for my older GSP and he did a...

Re: recommendation for upland gun

I've had a Benelli Montefeltro for the past 3 years and love the gun. Before the Monte I was shooting a M1, I have been extremely happy with Benelli's! If price is a concern look at the Stoeger M3000. Quality isn't the same as a Benelli but neither is the price.

Re: E Collar/Invisible fence question

You won't have any problems. I have invisible fence at the house for my GSP and JRT and it has not affected the GSP's range. Depending on the dog you may not need to keep the collar on at all times. Right now Gunther hasn't had his collar on in 2 weeks. Eventually he'll figure it out and need a remi...

How long are you wanting to keep them? If it's just for a week you can use a wire cage but longer than that they'll need a flight pen. To get them back you'll need a recall pen do a search lots of info here about them.

Re: What are you using to feed/water your birds?

bh99 all you need is some sheet metal, or maybe some sheets of tin siding. Take a piece and make it into a funnel and make it real big and it will be perfect. It will keep the rain off the feed and birds out of it too. I have 2'x4' plywood slanted to one end on top of it now and it is still getting...

Re: What are you using to feed/water your birds?

This is the feeder I use but have a couple issues with it. First is the top is open and bird get inside. I fixed that by puting anti-tip dog dish in it upside down. The second problem is I have the feeder outside and when it rains the feed gets wet. To fix this I'm going to build some walls with a r...

Just this year my county raised dog tags from $13 to $20. The problem I see is to many people don't buy tags. One way to get people to buy them would be to make you show proof before a vet will treat or see a dog.

All dogs are used to the e-collar and invisible fence. The reason I bought the bark collar is that my dogs like to bark/play with the neighbor dog. What will happen is they will run to the fence and bark. When they get nicked they'll think they are to close to the boundary.

I justed order a couple no bark collars for my dogs. I wanted to get opinions on how to introduce them to the dogs. I am using an invisible fence system and I want to make sure the dogs don't get confused on why they are being nicked.

I'm in NW Ohio and last year I ran 3 HT in Michigan and 1 in Ohio. The one in Ohio was bad, it was over 90 degree's I'm thinking it was end of May. I'd go for late April early May or end of Sept. Getting into Nov. & Dec. the weather could be bad.

Is your club going to have any field trials?
