Re: Training- New to this

Good advice given for sure. If I could be so bold, Perfection Kennels has a very good series. Perfect Start and Perfect Finish DVDs are all you need. Alternatively, you could download their two digital tapes: The Perfect here and The Perfect Whoa (which is new). They have a wonderful straight forwar...

Re: Does the NAVHDA Natural Ability Test Create Problems?

That is what I thought also, is that the tracking would be in the UPT or UT testing. I tried to intentionally word my post so as to not come across as a slight toward any group, rather an honest question as to whether this aspect of training while a dog is young, contributes to creeping and/or busti...

Garrison, I enjoyed your answer. Thank you. It didn’t say anything about my specific question regarding the tracking test creating bad habits, however :D

Re: So how did You get started with dogs and hunting?

Great stories folks. I was 12 and my buddy 13 when his family took in a Pudelpointer that was roaming the neighborhood. It was abused by the owner whom they later tracked down. Poor dog was beaten down bad. We would try our best to hunt with him. He was better at busting birds than pointing them, bu...

Does the NAVHDA Natural Ability Test Create Problems?

I have been to a few Navhda training days just because I am a dog person. Even joined a club as it seems like a good bunch of people who are enthusiastic about their dogs, it helps with access to group orders for birds, and why not support all forms of our sport. Anyhow, my question is this… in thei...

Re: Help Settle An Argument About Color Of Dog and Performance in the Field

Both those dogs were in my favorite shorthair's pedigree. That was back in the 80s though. Been away for a while

Help Settle An Argument About Color Of Dog and Performance in the Field

My buddy and I are getting pups out of the same litter of GSPs. Both are livers. He has always had ticked dogs and never a liver. I have had both, and am partial to liver only because my favourite shorthair was a liver. His comment was that he sees very few livers doing well in FTs, and thinks they ...

What's your favorite bird dog training program?

Hey folks. I'm a Lab guy coming back into the world of shorthairs. I am looking for people's favorite training program for taking a pup through to a broke dog. I know that many simply train instinctively based on past experiences, but I am a linear thinker and like to map out where I am, where I am ...

Thanks, guys. I am using Debbie at Pets2You. What a wonderful lady. Importing a dog to another country is challenging during Covid. So happy we found Debbie.

Anyone know of a transporter from Standish, CA to Sweetgrass, MT?

Hey folks. Looking for transport for two puppies from Standish, California to the Canadian border crossing in Sweetgrass, Montana. Do any of you know someone who could make that run in Mid October? Thanks in advance!
