Re: Commands for multiple dogs

I appreciate everyone's input and while I can see the dangers in hunting multiple dogs of varying levels of trainig together, that's not what I'll be doing. The dogs wont hunt together, until the new pup has developed her own independence in the field, is backing points and honoring on retrieves lik...

Re: Commands for multiple dogs

Shags I do usually tend to over think things lol. So I'll just train to new dog with the same commands as the older one. Both are GSP's I forgot to mention. If it becomes an issue, the older dog is trained to recall with voice, whistle, collar tone and hand signal. Woah with voice, whistle, vibrate ...

Re: Commands for multiple dogs

That makes sense CJ. The only time I tend to use alot of commands is when I'm guiding hunts, that's only to keep my current dog close so the hunters can watch him work, and for the most I plan to rotate the dogs instead of having multiple Down to worry about. So, essentially most of the time when th...

Commands for multiple dogs

Hey Everyone, I was just picked up other dog, she's now 12 weeks old. I've been doing some light obedience work with her. So what I was wondering, is if everyone uses the same commands for multiple dogs or different commands. If so how do you keep the dogs from getting confused when running them tog...

Re: Using e collar

So, Anyway to try and get the this back on track as to what you use your ecollar for, not if you should use one. I have a couple different e collars, but I use them basically the same way. I use the tone as an overlay for the recall command. I have trained this dog to recall by voice, hand signal, w...

Re: I have been interested in taking up bird hunting

Jon, in the time you've spent on the internet researching wingshooting you could have gone out and found many places to train dogs, and possibly hunt. Your methods confuse me, you can't understand an activity that takes place outdoors from behind a keyboard. Your attitude towards the whole venture i...

Re: It's idiots like this who put ethical American hunters ...

So, from what I gather, with your limited knowledge from a hunting safety course you took over 2 decades ago, and you're extremely limited hunting knowledge, that is derived (as far as I can tell) completely from magazines and books, with little to no real world experience. Ethical would be to find...

Alpha Dog supplements

Is anyone using these supplements for their dogs? The reviews all seem positive, just trying to see if it's worth the hype or not. If it's gonna give my dog an edge when hunting it's worth it to me.

X2 on the alpha, I never hunt my dog without his. You can track and train. You can setup multiple button configurations easily, I personally don't use vibrate or time but they're available.

New from northwestern Pa

Hey everyone, I'm Bob, Im from just north of pittsburgh right outside of Cranberry township. I just got my first gun dog in May, his name is Kash, he's now an almost 8month old GSP. I've been hunting birds for awhile but populations of birds in pa are low (even in game commission stocked areas) so I...
