Re: End of the line for me and Tubbs
Sorry to hear that. I’ve been following your updates and it definitely sounds like you’ve encountered some hurdles along the way that you’ve tried to work through. I don’t think having a bird dog should cause anyone that much turmoil and for me the kennel Anxiety pacing, barking/howling alone would ...

Re: Anyone using the newest Garmin?
I just got a 200 and it has been impressive so far. Easy to set up and “training buttons” make it easier for corrections, tones, vibrations etc. rather than having to use the touch screen. I haven’t used the 100 so I don’t if if it was also a feature, but the on point alert options allowed me to sel...

Does anyone know what the temperature rating is on these boxes? Prairie wind GSP, Wyoming reviews?
Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Prairie wind GSP’s kennel in Wyoming? The folks have been very helpful, responsive and willing to answer any questions which has been great and I was looking to see if anyone has hunted behind or had any experience with their dogs. Feel free t...

GSP because it’s What my buddy had who I hunted with and was mostly familiar with. Prior to my GSP I had previously had two labs and a Belgium mal that I had for work. So far I’ve been very impressed with my GSP and looking to add another to the fleet

Tenderfoot- I tend not to look at COI numerticals because I feel their focus is somewhat misdirected. soooo, I went and looked this up: ......... Putting your dog’s COI result into perspective The COI calculator provides you with a percentage score; the lower the percentage, the lower the degree of...

Inbreeding or line breeding?
Not trying to start an argument but trying to flesh out some details in a dog I’m interested in. When it comes to inbreeding is there a cut off or coefficient you don’t want to cross? From what little I know, doesn’t inbreeding occurs to try and achieve certain traits or qualities, but then on the f...

Re: Garmin Alpha vs 550 plus- GPS issues
I have the 550 plus and like it. I was having tracking issues as well, returned the device now it works great. One thing I've learned is to keep transmitter out so it maintains a signal. I was putting it in one of my ammo pouches and when I pulled it out to see where dog was it would take awhile to ...

Re: Pro 550+
The directional arrow bounces around pointing in nearly 180 degree different direction than where the dog is and the north indicator is way off as well. I don’t know what’s going on but all I could think of is I noticed the metal ring from the dog collar was rubbing on the collars charging terminals...

That seems to exactly it. After several days of recovery, I’ve hunted her again and haven’t had any more issues.
Re: roading
I don’t know about a harness. I run my dog on remote dirt road while I ride a quad that she has learned to run in front good distance. (Probably not the safest). We started short runs about 6 months old and worked up from there. I figured if I’m hunting her running miles, why couldn’t she exercise.

Bleeding toe nails?
My 1 1/2 year old GSP recently experienced bleeding toe nails after a hunt. Her nails are trimmed appropriately ( I believe) and she’s is routinely exercised and ran on a gravel road for several miles with no issues. After one day of Chukar hunting her nails started bleeding and her feet seemed sore...

Work765,
Depending on where your coming from in so. Cal it’s probably a drive for you but I’d recommend Western Wing Kennels in Nevada. I just took my GSP there and am happy with results. Good luck in your search.
