Black is a disqualification in the AKC show ring, however it is in Europe. I know several people who hunt with black GSP's.

We had a lab have the TPLO done when she was just over a year old. This was over 18 years ago so I don't remember everything we did but I do remember taking her swimming almost every day once she had the vets OK. Luckily we have lakes close by we could take her to.

We have had 4 GSP's as house/hunting dogs without as much room to run as you have. I think breeding plays a big roll to not getting a "hyper" Shorthair. I have seen Britts that are just as good in the water as on land. They have chapters all over the country that meet to train at least once a month, depends on what part of the country on what months they meet. John - Skyline Sports Sportsman Club by Thurman, IA is a great place to train and they have pheasant. The Heartland NAVHDA has training days & test there. Unfortunately the last training day was this past Saturday. http://skylinehunting.net/v2/Contact.aspx

I have tried the mouse traps and they worked great as long as they were on the counter. All the dogs, including a dobi & and blue heeler mix, could smell when they weren't there anymore.

The only issue I see is if you can't handle her being better then you at it :D
We both trained our dogs until my husbands job changed then I did most of it. I also ran them in their test and for our male some field trials.
We both hunt them with no problems.
