Maybe it was mentioned...or not... but I heard today that the 550 Plus doesn't have an audible indicator (It doesn't Beep) when the dog goes on point. Is that true?

Let the dog hunt as much as he can. Take care of that tail though. I've heard said that an empty plastic tampon holder (I'm not sure what the right words are here) put over the tip of the tail and taped on works well.

Put the dog crate outside in the truck or car and put him in the crate at night. Then let him out in the morning when you get up. Assuming your neighbors can't hear him bark. This is what I've done and it works.

How did you re-enforce the recall command with the e-collar? And how did you collar condition her? Here's what's worked for me with a sensitive dog (FWIW - I think e-collars are better for sensitive dogs than verbal or physical reminders) Some trainers use the "Positive" method (I'm not sure it's so...

Maybe the pup just doesn't have the desire to retrieve yet. It's not uncommon. I've had setters that would just go stand by the wounded/dead bird and wait for me to pick it up before leaving the area to find another. I've done it before without launchers and it works too. It helps if you have a helper throwing the bird and you concentrate on the dog. Re: Is there a way to import BLM map data into Google Earth?
Bird hunting is beautiful because of it's simplicity. A dog and a gun and time enough to get out and walk. It doesn't need to be any more complicated than that. If you're doing it to save money, find another hobby. I hesitate to even consider what the costs are of the birds reduced to possession. Bu...

At some point you just have to get off your "bleep", drive the roads, and walk the land. Mark the waypoints under your feet. I think to be a successful bird bagger one will have to first master: 1. map reading 2. land navigation 3. GPS operation 4. scouting from a desktop PC 5. scouting in a...
