They had fireworks a mile or so away so I thought I would sit on the front porch with the dogs and watch. They'd have none of of it.
When guys are hunting ducks on the river or geese in the field behind the house I have to restrain them from busting through the window for the retrieve.

Re: Grouse / Woodcock NH
We just returned from a mid-week hunt. Tuesday we had twenty flushes, Wednesday we got skunked (not literally) Thursday we had thirty flushes and ate grouse for dinner. The birds were there, spotty tho. A forester we met said they had a wet spring this year. Farther south in NH may do better. Pittsb...

Re: Releasing Pheasants in ND
While working as a gamekeeper on a private island for driven shoots, we would release 5,000 pheasants and 1500 red leg partridge. The birds would be brought to the island in September and penned til November. We would lift the sides of the bird netting and let them wander to the heavy cover. The sho...

Also consider the Setter Club in Medford NJ. If you have a big running independent puppy the grounds give you a little peace of mind as it is almost entirely fenced with pasture wire.

The barrels should be stamped on the top stating they are steel. Extending the chambers is done in an effort to shoot 2 3/4 or 3 in shells. RST imanufactures low pressure rounds for classic shotguns like yours. I prefer my Foxes over my Smiths and Ithacas but that's just me When you re visit the gun...

Check the drop at heel and comb. The older guns were chin mounted and not cheek mounted. Damascus? If steel barrels I still wouldnt run steel loads through it. Bismuth or Hevi-shot, low brass. The Smith's have a tendency of cracking at the wrist/sidelock when using hot loads. Don't extend the chambe...

Bird counts are about average this year for Pittsburg. The foliage should be down by now so the birds may tend to flush a little wilder. Snow is always a possibility by the third week. You've got the moon, you should see some flight birds. Don't be afraid to work Magalloway area either. Just be care...

Do you think it was the Belgian waffles on Sunday mornings or the Friday night ice cream that helped the most with his conditioning regimen?
