I deal with bulk feed ingredients for all kinds of animals and pets. I would strongly advise choosing a high quality food from a specialty dog food company. I would avoid the generic and major brands like the plague. There really is significant differences in what goes into different feeds. However...

You get what you pay for, not always but more so that getting more than you pay for. I know a guy who eats frozen pizza every day and he does just fine. There are so many variables when it comes to assessing health there is no way that most dog owners truly know the real health of their dogs.

As a side note, one of the reasons I like to feed raw is because there is no tax. I find it disturbing that to feed my dog dry food the government first must collect 7.125%.

A shortage of potassium is a huge contributor to cramps. There is an ideal combination of minerals that aid in muscle control, and re hydration. I have seen great results with rehydrate in my dogs.

Actually, the study itself admitted: Bloat may be an "uncommon" disease... . It also specifically called it an epidemic. When the plague hit Europe, it didn't kill everyone, or a majority, but it was still a problem. Also note Sars didn't wipe out China, so that most likely wasn't a serious issue?
