While I don't go along with some of their training methods you will still learn some things that may work for you and it can help with specific problems. Remember they are in it for the money so you may want to ask for the one day discount. A couple of hundred is better than nothing and they will b...

Yep! When it's hot they just can't resist! On hot days after I train with Indy, she jumps in the creek by the hayfield and goes swimming. Then she's all ready to go again. She figured out that the water is her friend, so now she likes to jump in the lake and try catch geese.

At this point I am only seeing positive associations to the gun fire. ....I'm wondering why OP has gotten so many warnings. His pup obviously isn't afraid of gunfire. With all due respect... I believe was and apparently was mean a very similar thing. Higgins stated in the OP why he taught the dog, as an individual , to point. It was the system that worked best for his client who wanted to hunt both dogs as a team. It just doesn't seem like it would make sense for...

People have altered dogs behavior for thousands of years the brit and the viz are two examples and most breeds for that matter. What is the big deal about training one individual to point. Don't neglect yourself. The BEST thing you can do for that new pup is to buy a tested training program you like, develop a solid training program based on it, and FOLLOW YOUR PLAN. Really, other than environmental exposure, this year will be a non started. He'll only be 5-6 months old and not much ...

I taught my setter when she was a pup. She was pointing one of the chickens when I got her as a pup and then she started chasing them too. I took my two dogs to the reservoir the other night. A while after I coaxed my setter to swim a short distance, she suddenly took off towards the middle of the lake. It was pretty surprising. I will be 85 in 2 weeks. I am actually in fairly good shape. I give the dogs a lot of credit for that. I Mastered my last dog 6 years ago. I did the update a while ago. There was only one available for the handheld and I don't think any for the collar. It was a nice, spring day yesterday and I was outside by the driveway measuring lumber for the floor of my new pigeon coop. Tick borne diseases are not something I would want to get. Neither me or my dogs want Lyme disease. Now I don't know if the same is true for dogs... but I notice when I'm taking Vitamin B I don't get mosquito and spider bites all during the summer. I'd assume the same would work for ticks. But that's only if you want to monkey around and try something new (*which I'm sure you don't*).
