At what age do you start taking the pigeon out and training it to home? Or, how long after you let it fly out freely do you start the homing training?

I'm curious if I should let my 6.5 month old puppy chase my launched pigeons or if I should train it to be steady to flush now.

In my head, I can see the merits of either path. Curious if there is consensus on the best path.

Looking to get your advice on a vest that I could use every day for training - from general obedience to gun dog stuff - and that I could use for upland hunting. Does such a thing exist?
