Re: Now she needs a name
Shy was moved on to trail horse and brood mare (at someone else's house) in late September, 2014. She was not happy as a field trial horse, so she's been replaced by Encore & Scout. Encore is a coming 4 yr old. He's doing GREAT! http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c383/travelerGirl/encore6_zpselfkz4rt...

So we went from giving an opinion on who the best dual champions were/are, to bashing duals, to bashing Brittany trials. VERY productive and I'm sure will help grow the sport.

Re: Best Dual Champions

Out here Britt trials are almost always open to all pointing breeds. We couldn't get enough entries for majors if that was not...

Most of mine started out car sick but outgrew it quickly. Tally isn't outgrowing it quite as fast as the others, so I give him Bonine (non-drowsy dramamine) before every trip. If we're traveling EARLY in the morning, he gets it at bedtime, if we're going somewhere immediately after work, he gets it ...

So switch his food back to whatever you were feeding before Pro Plan and see if the sores & itching go away. You should know in as little as few days. If the itching continues and the sores don't begin to heal, it's probably a seasonal allergy, and one that severe will require meds from your vet. An...

BAD age to try and judge beauty on a pup. They go through some pretty awkward stages. MOST grow out of them....some don't.

Reading your choices, I tend to think about longevity, and your kids. Brittanys live, on average, 12-14 years. We lost our old man at 13 1/2, but he was ill for a good year before that (pretty severe arthritis and kidney disease). As much as we adored him, he wouldn't have been good around small chi...

Re: Homemade dog box
We made these a few years ago for our horse trailer. There's aluminum channel along all inside edges, and we cut a 1" thick stall mat up to fit very tightly into each box for some cushion and to hold up to any digging the dogs decided to do. We used it for 2 years, then sold it to a pro trainer when...

Puppy pricing can be quite geographical. I bought a pup in NJ for $1000, and 3 yrs later bought another from southern IL for $500. My $500 puppy has 27 adult field trial placements, including a placement at Nationals. Both are great dogs, but because of where I bought them, the prices varied GREATLY.

We had the chiropractor out last Tuesday, who found several places "out" (but nothing that indicated a saddle fit issue) and adjusted him. One of our horses has been having issues with tripping lately, and after having a full neuro panel done (came back clear for EPM and a bunch of other bad stuff), talking to our farrier, checking saddle fit and having the chiropractor out, we're pretty sure he's starting to show early signs of arthri...

Once dog 1 is easy to live with but not so old that a pup will drive him/her nuts and is still in good health and should be for a couple years, which usually means sometime between 2 and 10 yrs of ago.

Neutering won't solve any of the issues outlined above without training (which could be done without neutering), but if you want to neuter, he's old enough that I personally wouldn't be opposed to it. He's matured physically and mentally past puppyhood, his growth plates should be closed, and theref...
