The sand you are talking about is fine to use. The 12-15 birds is alot for that pen. You will see more losses (bird not coming back) and more sickness for sure. The bobs can be left up for a while then slowly dropped. Read my post about starting with pigeons and you will know how to do it. Thanks s...

so piegon breed frequently.....?im guessing i should but some nest then and if they outgrow this coop i will have to build a bigger one or get rid of some of them....4x4x6 is the size i would think 12-15 would be the max amont to keep. any thoughts on putting a cage on the outside for the to practic...

I would make sure that dog is bullitproof on frozen birds first...then I use a fresher bird, one thats been dead several hours before using a completely fresh bird. I would not put a platform on the inside. I had one and the birds would some how wiggle through the bobs and just come and go on there own. I got rid of the inside platform and the problem stopped.
