How do you restrain an unrualy britt when it comes to cutting the nails. she used to be a kennel dog, she is now a house dog.
I don't have a groming table. She won't let me touch her feet. :?

I get a lot more control using the flank for range, whoa, recall,steady to flush,ect I think that him wearing a bark collar around the neck when in his kennel is part of the problem.

E-Collar Flank vs Neck

My GWP runs to big with the e-collar around his neck, I get good results with the flank position. With the e-collar on the neck I have to use the stimulation stronger and more often. I would like to get back to the neck, Anybody got any ideas?
Using this method while hunting wild pheasant & quail.

I have been feeding ekuanuba and going to change to Exceed $52 vs $26
I bought the yellow bag (chicken) There was also another bag (lamb) I think eukanuba is chicken
base. Sam's is having a tough time keeping it on the shelf acording to a Sam's employee.

I didn't shoot at any of the birds that he bumped because they were way out of range. He likes to range way out. we are working on staying in a little closer using a nick, which seems to be effective. thanks for the advice all

He knows whoa, While acting birdy he is pushing the bird. when the bird stops he locks up. I don't say anything until the bird gets up and I yell whoop. He is steady to the flush. Just returned from two weekends in s/w Kansas.hunting alone with my young GWP(2 1/2) he must have put up 30 or 40 roosters which were out of gun range. we did manage a half dozen on close flushes or points. Obtained a KS. lic on line,now where do I go? I requested a walk in atlas from KDWG via e-mail. I live in Co. so KS is close.

Breeding a slick male GWP

Looking for opinions about breeding a slick male(82lb no fat)GWP 2yr old. Am thinking about having him neutered.He is so big and strong and has so much drive, he is a bit much to handle.

He points and will hold for 10 to 20 seconds, I have been planting fairly heavy cover and letting
him range out. he usually catches the bird because I am unable to get to him before he breaks.
I use electronic launchers.

pigeon catch

my gwp has caught to many pigeons during my trying to break him. all his catches have been my fault. I think we will stop the pigeon training until after hunting season. we will continue with the whoa training. I won't try to stop him when he breaks,by yelling whoa. is this the way to go?

Have been trying to steady my GWP(20mos)) by using pigeons and remote launchers. When he moved off point, I would pop the bird.no verbal commands given. He has stop chasing,. How does one go about firming up the poop? it makes scooping a much easier task. I feed cosco, kirkwood brand (Lamb) Is there something I can add to firm up the poop? The dog is doing just fine on this food. The poop is not always to loose. thanks

I have been averaging a dozen birds a week in my traps,until a month ago. The feral pigeons
seemed to have disappeared. I checked the neighborhood area and the number of pigeons sighted was way down. Could it be that it is nesting season?

I 've had gun dogs before,but never had a dog with such loose lips. Do all GWP have the same problem? Now that it's winter time,the dog spends most of the time in the house. his water bucket is inside. after every visit to the water bucket, all I hear is the wife yelling GET the MOP! :lol:

Thanks for the info.. her stool had been normal I had just changed the size of the doggy door, as the pup had been eating her stool, the pup has his own kennel area. still concerned.
