Re: Lab seizure
Sorry, Excercise Induced Collapse. In mild forms it can sometimes mimic seizures. It can progress to cardiac arrest and death after light to moderate excercise and definitely after heavy excercise. It is common in labs and a few other breeds. I am not saying that this is what your dog has but I woul...

Might also have him tested for EIC. Sometimes it can mimic a seizure. Other than that, see what the vet says.

We had the same problem with our Vizsla. We switched to Native level 3 and it worked for us. You might give it a try. Satin Balls are something else I have heard work.

Re: vizsla - differences between american and hungarian lines
What about Epilepsy in the imported lines? I know for a while it was an issue but have they reduced the number of occurances? It's something we were thinking about for the next vizsla. Right now we have an American Bred that is right in the middle of the standard and absolutely loves water so we are...

Double coated breeds will "Blow Coat" 2-4 times a year usually. It's more than just the normal shedding. It is basically a total replacement of the undercoat. Think Furminator commercial 2-4 times a year. This year my Shiba's blew coat more than normal. No wonder we went with a vizsla this time. :D ...

We were out walking Dyson and Morgan (Vizsla and Belgian Malinois) and a guy came up and asked if they were a pitbull puppy and Coyote we were walking. Yeah sure. I always go and take my coyote out for a walk in the middle of downtown!

Congrats! I know how you feel. Our Vizsla , Dyson, loves to jump at home but will not jump in competition (he fell off as a young pup and now has a confidence issue with that dock). If you decide on a Vizsla, also try http://www.buschvizslas.com. Lot of knowledge and great dogs. They are also looking for foster family for about two years while the family is out of the country. It might be a good trial run to see if you like the breed.

Salt water can add to the problem. I would add an oatmeal conditioning shampoo when washing them down and maybe a little salmon oil to their diet. Mine are shedding too right now. We changed to the Native level 3 and are loving it.

Stick with what your feeding if they are doing well. Science diet except for the prescription forms are not the end all be all of dog foods. If your are happy with your food and can afford it, stick with it (especially since he gave you a nice comment on their condition).

$300.00 difference is typical for Vizsla's. We picked the one that picked us too. We sat on the floor and waited and watched. I am certainly not disappointed in our selection. I definitely agree with pick the bloodline and breeder first , then the rest shouldn't matter.

You might want to try the Furminator shampoo as it helps loosen the undercoat. No need to try the brush but if you are having problems then maybe add that too. Other than that just keep brushing.
