I agree...everyone should own whichever breed that they choose. A breed's rarity doesn't necessarily identify its owner as 'not a hunter' or not serious about loving hunting. Rather shortsighted to insinuate (or outright state in some cases) otherwise. Ultimately, that is what makes this sport great...

Great advice. I will speak with the trainer and see what he thinks. I'm bummed to be losing her for a month but I honestly think it will be a great experience for her and make our hunts even better.

Thanks Sharon...you are always so nice and helpful. It would be nice to break her to wing and shot...Is that something that can happen in a month? I don't mind if she is broke but I certainly wouldn't mind if she was! It is certainly not an imperative.

I thought NAVHDA would be a great place to start. Any breeders you like in particular?

Well said and much appreciated all. I agree 3Brits...My dog is a goofy pet and city dog for most of the year. But when we hunt and train, she becomes a bird dog and you can see the switch.
