Re: More Brittany Talk - Grooming
I alway trim them if I am hunting in areas with burrs. You can shorten the feathering if needed, cleanup the armpits and belly area, and clip out behind the ears. But my dogs are fairly short, straight coated dogs that don't hold on the the burrs like longer, softer, curly coats. Ezzy I agree with ...

Re: Hard headed dogs?
There are stubborn dogs. Usually they are smart and talented. What I've seen of them, they tend to mature late and most people don't stick with them long enough to develop their potential. I am hoping that's the problem with mine...she's smart and biddable. She just chooses to not remember what hap...

While I wouldn't actively seek out Craigslist for a dog, but I can see the plus sides. You can use a Furminator (or similar product) to get the dead fur out. It works well on the Britts :) I second that! We shave yearly, right about now...better make that call one of these days. Then we use the Furminator to help control the shedding around the turn of the seasons. I like throwing th...

Our older male was the same way. He never had a problem with other dogs, even when they stayed over. But when we brought our new pup home, he left her alone for almost a week. He would get up and walk away if she was in the same room as him! It seemed to solve itself; but I just thought it was a mal...

I use a neoprene one in the field. I wouldn't use it if it's hot out, but usually when we get out, it is cool to cold (Late October-December). It sure keeps thier undersides from wearing raw and it also is alot easier to brush out the few birs that get on the ears or legs.

Interesting point on the size issue. I do know that many breeds are getting larger and larger - look at the labs and chessies - they are WAY above breed standard now. I would even consider limiting water intake. I am in no way advocating not giving your dog water...but a pup who's 10.5 weeks old doesn't need to drink a gallon of water just because its in the bowl.
