Re: lesser known breeds
On this side of the pond, and speaking of Gorsons, there are a number of breeders who contantly/consistantly produce good/great dogs. They have a long following of people who get/use/brag about their dogs because you know what you are getting. I think they are lesser just because not as many dedicat...

Another vote for the "dual dogs". ANd specifically the Dual Gordon. After 15 yrs of owning duals, could never imagine anything else. Here is a website from a friend who owns one of the more famous duals, and it also happens to be the grandsire to my existing pup! http://www.feathermankennels.com Gla...

ANyway, my dog is Tartana Miliko MacDuff. Hubert is his grandsire, and my older dog grandsire on the other side. Not familiar with all the other dogs, but I really know the Tartana dogs.

Yo bud, First, congrats. We spoke of the baby at the HT, never thinking of this. I use to put a bay towels in the dog crates, to get them use to the scent of our children. My bad, did not know you were planning on doing this at the club. Thought maybe you were going to do this where you run the dogs that you told me about when we ran dogs.
Yes, our club is a regulated shooting ground so you are safe thru 3/31.

Be careful with state regs and seasons. A bird out of season, outside of regulation, I do not think can be harvested without the Regulated Shooting license. Just a precaution, cant say for sure.

Re: DeCoverly English Setters??
Good morning to all, I always follow the threads concerning "duel" dogs, because I own them (gordon setters). I am always of the opinion, value them for what they are, and not what they are not. In most duel dogs that I know of, they will have the lower tail set, not quite as fast, slightly larger.....

I think if you substitute trainer for "coach", the answer will reveal itself, assuming the "athelete" is truly that.

One other thing, if using released birds or at a preserve, less is more. When I started shooting birds over MacDuff last year, I would only put out at most 5-8 birds over a large area. I wanted the dog to work for each bird, and handle it correctly. My opinion, too many birds for a young dog is a ba...

I have the second collar pictured. Made of rubber. Order them from LCS. The "o" ring turns the collar over much easier, if the dog were to get stuck. Order one, they are cheap and you will see what we mean. The "d" ring is a pain. Originally I think meant for a leash. Hook vet stuff to it and I find...

WHY STEADY TO WING AND SHOT??
Just a question from reading the thread posted by "First Dog". If you only hunt with a dog, no testing, do you still desire STWS, or will you, can you tolerate the dog that breaks on flush? If you want some known insight on this, maybe talk to a Gordon breeder. Being the owner of 2 Gordons, heavily line bred, I understand the outcome, but do not understand "how close" is "too close". I do know thta since the gene pool for Gordons is somewhat limited, it (my opinion) may be more common ...

Practice shooting is one thing, which will help. But when shooting birds, I found out a long time ago, positioning yourself and/or antipating where the most likely place to shoot from/at will greatly enhance your performance and average.
