I can't keep this under my hat any longer. We have bred our dog Missie to Hall of Fame Dog NFC/FC/AFC Aux-Arc's Mark of Pride and Joy Kennels. For those of you who had the chance to see Mark run, you know how good these pups will be. We are seeking serious trial homes for these pups who will be read...

American Brittany Pup from Upper Ridge

We have one male puppy left from our June Tempest by Fenway litter that is available to a trial home. This puppy has been showing all of the trademarks of a dog that will get it done. He has big drive, a ton of birdiness and has shown that he is trainable. We have started him on yardwork, introduced...

I have a Rooster - my red dog. I decided much before I started pheasant hunting. I do get a lot of crap from people about his name, but I'm a huge John Wayne fan so I went with it. Yep, Rooster Cogburn, that's why I liked it too. The wife hates it though, so I would probly get vetoed anyway. How ab...

We've had brits my entire life. Love'em. Great temperaments. Perfect size. Biddable. Spark plugs in the field. Darn good in the house. Like all dogs, especially working dogs, they need exercise. I don't have much experience with GSPs and Vizslas but I'm sure they would make great family dogs as wel...

At six months, who cares if he breaks point, he is still a puppy and will learn in time. A check cord will help. Another, broke dog will help even more. I would advise getting your dog on as many birds as possible and he will soon hold long enough for you to shoot.

You pup should be done teething some time between 4 to 6 months. I have never seen a rawhide chew do any damage. One thing that you may want to remember is that most people at petco do not raise animals. Some do, but most don't.

I too like my dogs to back and retrieve.

That being said. I wouldn't send a good hunting dog down the road if it stole point, as long as it didn't steal the retrieve. The dog that finds the bird first should always get the retrieve unless it refuses to do so.

I have run pointing and flushing dogs together, and you are right in that the pointing dog has to be "trained" well. But, I woulld think that running both would be better than trying to get a pointing dog to flush. It just goes against the training to point and hold.
