I have a Rooster - my red dog. I decided much before I started pheasant hunting. I do get a lot of crap from people about his name, but I'm a huge John Wayne fan so I went with it. Yep, Rooster Cogburn, that's why I liked it too. The wife hates it though, so I would probly get vetoed anyway. How ab...

At six months, who cares if he breaks point, he is still a puppy and will learn in time. A check cord will help. Another, broke dog will help even more. I would advise getting your dog on as many birds as possible and he will soon hold long enough for you to shoot.

You pup should be done teething some time between 4 to 6 months. I have never seen a rawhide chew do any damage. One thing that you may want to remember is that most people at petco do not raise animals. Some do, but most don't.

That being said. I wouldn't send a good hunting dog down the road if it stole point, as long as it didn't steal the retrieve. The dog that finds the bird first should always get the retrieve unless it refuses to do so.

I have run pointing and flushing dogs together, and you are right in that the pointing dog has to be "trained" well. But, I woulld think that running both would be better than trying to get a pointing dog to flush. It just goes against the training to point and hold.

Check out the dog online, if it has been trial it will show up somewhere. You should remember that "champion bloodlines"...
