That sucks about the ankle. Busted my hand when I was 17 and it would be in a cast for the opening of duck and grouse hunting. Took a grinding bit on my dads drill to open it up enough to hold a shotgun. Can't do anything like that for your ankle though.

Nice work and handy looking dog. I will really try my JRTxBorder this year on rabbits, shot one over him last year while out for a walk in the woods and he retrieved it. Just keep poking the "hernia" back in and it probably will stay after a while. As was stated previously it may not be a complete closure, should work by just pushing it back in. Try that and see before getting surgery.

Nice dogs. Those lurchers look to be well muscled and in shape. I like the look of that dog in the second picture, some leg under him. A couple Borders I see as well. What is the Chesnut and Tan dog? A spaniel cross?

Are those English Foxhounds? The hunt where I got my terrier had English and a few Welsh too, 63 hounds in total along with a lurcher, a couple Borders and JRT. Some big hounds though with a lot of whiter dogs.

You may cross a collie lurcher with a bull/grey or terrier/grey to get certain attributes. Some people crossbred to get things that they want in a dog, look at hog dogs and some crosses there.

There is another French breed as well, Braque du Bourbonnais. They work with you, close if need be and will range out too. I know that they can handle the heat as they hunt in AZ and CA. They are not afraid of the thick stuff and love to retrieve as well.
