Leave it alone. There is a good chance that it will close on its own in the next few months. If it doesn't, you can have the surgery then. Or not.

If there is a weim or gwp club in your area, contact them and tell them you are interested in a water test. Often, the decision to hold one or not, is based on the number of entries they think they can get.

Ringgold is not too far from Walnut Hill Kennels (Brenda Roe and Rick Hopkins). They are both very good trainers. They are pros, so they will charge you, and I don't know if they do 'day rates,' but it doesn't hurt to ask. Could be another good place to start. They are at http://walnuthillsgsps.com ...

They meet early morning and there is plenty of shade and water at Buckeye Plantation. You can go at your own pace. The main reason I suggested them is so that you might meet folks in your area to train with outside of navhda. Also, if you are going to run your pup in NA, it's a good idea to see how ...

I don't think we are being nit-picky--at least that is not the intent. I would think (hope) that any new dog owner would know that at the least, every dog needs food, water, and shelter. I agree with Ezzy. I've had all the items listed, and probably half or more just collected dust. They are nice to have when you want them, but as far as need goes, I say there are only two *essential* items: birds, and a place where the dog can stretch out to find them.

Both. I train and handle my dogs myself through gundog. But I have and will send my trial dogs with different trainers to the prairies over the summer. Re: Recalling new pup ?
My philosophy is to convince the dog that coming to me is the greatest thing in the world. With pups, it's easy. Exuberant praise usually does it. As they get older and bolder the key is to know when to call the dog. You don't want to set the pup (or yourself) up for failure. I don't expect a birdy,...

Re: What are the Pros/Cons of partnering up on a dog.
The most successful partnerships I've seen are those between breeder and puppy buyer. It is more common in show lines where the dog can't be neutered or sold on limited registration in order to compete, but it can work well with field lines also. Generally, the puppy buyer/co-owner has full responsi...

Pups change so much from 4-8 weeks that, IMO, you are wasting your time making your choice before 8 weeks. (8-10 MONTHS would be better, as a previous poster stated. But that's impractical). Arrive as soon as the breeder is willing to let the pup go. If you are third in line, choose 3 pups based on ...

A dove shoot is different than other types of hunting.
