Re: Pigeon Coop Question
Rich, Your homers dont need to be in a warm shed. You can close it up but its not needed. There are a couple things You can do to help them through the winter. Feed them hole corn or seed. This helps produce body heat in the birds Also if you want birds to breed during the winter months you need to ...

One thing I have found over the years is try and go early in the summer. If you wait to long the landowners have already Given permision to others and you might be out of luck. Went through the same kind of thing with our last one.
I just took the vet off to the side and talked with them and they knew what to say to my wife. I still had a 300 dollar
bill and a carcass to take care of.
That being said I was not the ahole that said we should put her down.

First, yes they can pick it up by getting into wild bird. will it take longer, yes. City birds ? What is a random city bird
Second, take the birds to the training field with you. Put your birds in a box or bag take them on a walk with you
Make a fun game out of it.

I agree with you about quail not flying well and teaching the dog bad habits. The point I was making was after you have the dog steady
You can use quail as shooters. They don't fly and land fifty yards out, there a pillow of feathers @ thirty feet and you
Get some gun work in also!!

I'm no expert here but don't drag dead birds on the ground. Number one thing you want is the head up
Checking the wind for scent.
Also, you don't need a lot of homers, we are traning our dog with six and counting. You only need a few homers
Until there steady then you can move to shooters, or quail.

One of the best things about it is you can scare the %hi% out of them when they walk into your setup, if they don't see your decoys first.

Find the fastest sholdering gun you have and go to the range. You have about 3 seconds to shot in heavy cove. It dosnt take
Much to kill them but you have to be FAST even when you have a good solid point.

Set the boundry where you like it then after a little work the dogs shouldn't go there without your blessing.
