Re: NW Iowa Hunting Trip 2011 video

It was a good trip to South Dakota. We got schooled by the roosters but when you are out numbered 500:1 it hurts even more. :? All in all a great trip and great experience for the dogs. The best part was Abby put the young pup in his place. I think even Mary would agree to that.

Awesome video Denise! Very scary situation with the snare, sounds like Roxi handled it as best as can be hoped for.

Re: Roading/Resistance training pics or advice

Here is a short video I made of the rig I made up last summer. No horses or ATV but did have access to a free golf cart so took advantage of that. I was still adjusting the length from the tubing to the harness and have trimmed things up since. Dog absolutely loves it. http://www.youtube.c...

There are two sides too every story. Here is how it really went down. We arrived for the hunt Saturday morning and while my boy was ready to hit the field and do what he does best, the Munsters were already at their peak for the day. :P http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv192/GerenVE/IMG_0475.jpg A...

Re: Iowa Phez Numbers Vs SD

Road side count showed an expect harvest 150,000-200,000 birds. Compare that to (correct me if I'm wrong) SD was about 1.7 million last year. If you look at the small game map for pheasant I's say 95% of the state is rated as poor and there is NO excellent rankings in the state. Even read Iowa game ...

Re: Looking for breed suggestions

Small Munsterlander fits the bill too. Great in the house and with family. Mine is 19 inches tall but thinks she is a big dog. Hunts hard and is very cooperative and hunts ducks and has retrieved geese for us. Munster, You have peaked my interest into these Small Munsterlander. A 19" dog that retri...

I wouldn't be to concerned about hat first intro to the water. If you recall, Geren had the same experience chasing Abby and then the ground dropped out from under him and he was under water. 10 minutes later and a little encouragement and here he is http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv192/GerenVE/...

This is the 2nd time we've helped at a regional SM hunt weekend and everyone is sooo nice, the dog quality is excellent, and I'm still drooling over the meals we ate. It was great hunting with you, Danton, and Abby. Abby's a snappy little girl with a terrific nose, and her field manners reflect som...

I ended up making it down on Saturday. We didn't hit any of the seminars but made it past every booth. Lots of interesting stuff ad even bumped in to a few people I know. Only spent about 3 hours there but it was worth the trip.

Re: Snow balling up in pups paws

Curious why any maintenance is necessary? I only wonder because my Drahthaar has buildup of snow in his paws when we go out and it doesn't seem to bother him a bit (though if I cut off one paw I'm not not sure he''d show that it bothered him). Is there problems that can occur with this buildup?

I've been toying with the idea of upgrading my current dog transport system (plastic Pet Porter, or back seat of the truck). 11 Week Old Biting

My 11 Week old DD has an annoying habit of biting at my hands and forearms when he wants attention (my guess as to his thinking), or when we are playing. Puppy and Tick Collar

Hello all, I picked up an 8 week old Drathaar on Saturday and took him to the vet on Monday just to get started. One question that I have is the vet advised a Virbac Preventic Tick Collar since I told him I'd be out with the pup in tick populated areas. He said after a month I can use the topical th...
