Whats some things you all work on around the house with your dogs. Hunting season is over and I don't get to the bird fields as often as I would like, so I find myself working the dogs around the house.

Re: Aggresive dog
Well, my younger dog only shows dominance sometimes, otherwise my older dog and him get along great. I would say 90 percent of the time they are great. Its the humping thing that gets me. Sometimes he just cant stop. It more has to do with other dogs. Some dogs he is fine with, others he wants to so...

Re: Aggresive dog
Ok, so let me give some more information, my younger Griff tries to be dominate, humping ruff housing. My older dog does put the younger 8n his place. A lot of it is play, running around barking, acting like a pup. It's like after exercising he calms down. He is great around people

Alright, I have my second Griff who will be 11 months in a couple of weeks. I started FF about 3 weeks ago and he is moving along nicely. Re: Need help with retrieving and swimming
He does like birds. I have had him on quail and pigeons. He does so much better pointing quail and opposed to pigeons in launchers. I've been playing fetch with him in the house at odd times. I'll hold his collar and throw the object and get him amped and let him go. Seems to be enjoying it. My olde...

Need help with retrieving and swimming
I have an 8 month old Griffon that I am having issues with retrieving and swimming. He will retrieve 5-6 times then lose interest, which in turn makes it difficult to get him to swim.
He will chase me on the canoe and sometimes go in by himself. Any help would be appreciated.

Looking for a hunting Griff breeder
I currently have a Griff that is 5 years old and wanted to start looking at different kennels for the next member of my family. I have met some great Griff owners, but it seems as though they do breed for the show ring with a side of hunting. My current Griff came from a hunting kennel, but I would ...

I also done both knees with my Griff. Its a long road to recovery but worth it in the end. Both knees were done using TPLO. It does cost more but I hear for more active dogs its worth it. Also read up on recovery . I did my own and everything worked out. Read, read and read..... good luck and let me...

I ran the Carolina Chapter on Saturday with my Griff. Those water in the back were brutal . I was going into the duck search looking at a Prize 1 and ended with a Prize 3. Re: Flagging
Going to have to make it to the mountains this Fall and give it a shot. We also have some quail around here and there's always woodcock.
Re: Flagging
Looks as though I need to break out the launcher. Thanks all for the help. As soon as the season starts I will try to go after some wild birds. Guess I'm going to have to head out West to find any good numbers.
Re: Flagging
Think you guys have some valid points . I have put out birds without gloves and havent been using a trap lately.
Actually when putting out pigeons he does a real lazy point and then keeps looking back at me. I really only run him on birds once a week.
Any tips for planting birds?

Re: Flagging
In NC not too many wild birds. Mostly pen raised, which could be an issue.

Have a 4.5 Griff that flags when on point. I usually walk up and hold his tail and try to stroke it to stay up .... nothign helps any ideas.

Re: Frustrating Hold Habit
With a young dog I like to remove the ropes. At least of a while. You also may want to start working of "Hold " with your dog. This will show him proper placement of the bumper. Once he knows this command, do not let him get away by either cigaring or holding by the rope.
