Re: A great morning hunt
Hey Jeff, we hunt out of Courtland. Not that many pheasant but we found quail in spots that we have never found them before in 17 years of hunting there. In six days we put up only 23 roosters but put up 54 coveys of quail. Our mine set is that we were quail hunting with pheasants being a bonus. We ...

I shoot a SKB o/u that has has 1000's of rounds ran thru it and still tight. Great gun and in your price range. Thing i like is the safety is in top , up and down and not crooked to look at. The barrel select is by trigger, i have never changed it. This gun has taken abuse and is built on a 20 g fra...

Talking more about sd/gd stakes ,AF,AKC. Average bird work to me is pointed bird in the same pinch point and every dog points in that area with some what accurate location. Super bird work is same coarse where a dog gets off beaten path and uses his nose and intelligence , accurately pin points bird...

Which do you think gets you a higher placement? Great ground race but with average bird work or average ground race with super bird work? I've seen both , I will comment later on what I think but just want to see where everyone else goes on this.

Looking forward to the trial, I understand the grounds are top notch along with pre release birds. Great bunch of people putting it on so it should be a great time. Real close to making majors in broke stakes I hear . Hopefully a few more entries will help pull that off . Good Luck

This is a take off from the top notch thread. Probably a question more for judges . What do you think is the most common mistake made by am. handlers. My advice would be try to get off by yourself and stay out of the cornfields. Try to hunt ditches draws and hedgerows, much better chance of birds holding. Don't shoot unpointed birds , This is hard but will pay off later.Always be in training mold and if someone with you is not than get one that wi...
