Is the locking lever completely out of the way? It's the rotating metal piece at his back that locks him in the down position. Sometimes when he tries to stand up, he can catch on it.

Once our dogs understand that a flushing bird means "whoa" all I have to do is associate to other things. Sorry for any misunderstanding. Let me clear up a few things. The first dog Mo is with just got done working a bird. He is not on point. Mo is explaining how he works on steadying a dog. The second dog is a young pup being introduced to gunfire.

Here is a way we use our releaser to help steady a dog. More natural than a launcher or dizzied bird. In a releaser, the bird is free to go if he feels pressure from the dog. Works with pigeons too.
