So true. Just discussing that on our Ontario Out of Doors forum. TWO members are dealing with coon paralysis with their dogs right now. Apparently , nothing much can be done but hope the dog recovers. "I’d never heard of it. Although not limited to any specific breed, anybody (particularly those tha...

Good idea now that I think of it. :) Forget to say that you need 5 accepted posts here before you can post at liberty. This is to avoid spammers/advertisers/...

I moved this topic up here from the "Birds for Sale" category. It has been my experience that members rarely scan to the bottom of the forum, and this might be very helpful to some members doing training for the Fall. Unfortunately I am far from Las Vegas. :)

That is a great score! Good job by you and your dog! I only did NSTRA once and it was enough for me. Th handler virtually disregarded his dog looking for birds in likely places, then called his dog back to handle "the find". He won 1st! So, how do I train my dogs to disregard birds 3 feet outside o...

Sounds to me like you have a good handle on the problem. My JRT likes to bully the old setter. Hands on discipline and consistency works best. Never tolerated bullying when I was a teacher, and sure won't tolerate it between two dogs.

I've seen dogs default to sit when pressure is applied during training. Not what you want in a pointing dog. Beginners can easily overemphasized the sit command. I believe the breeder is trying to help you not make a normal beginners mistake. Might consider whoa instead. I like what Don had to say....
