rabbit hunting

This video brought back such great memories for me. Started hunting with Dad when about 10. He bred beagles, so we always had some great dogs. February starts the breeding season for rabbits normally so hunting season isn't far away here in Ontario. Start at about the 3 minute mark.... https://youtu...

Re: Memorable moments

When the dog I was running in hunt tests points a bird while making a retrieve. There is no way to get out of that situation without breaking the rules.....Cj Some rules need to be broken. Always annoyed me in trials that a dog couldn't relocate after pointing a bird but the bird moved on. I guess ...

Memorable moments

Any memorable gundog experiences you'd like to share? Best moment: Beat my pro dog training friend at a shooting dog trial. :) Had to hide my smile. Bad moment: Didn't trust my dog. Called him off of a point at a trial as I couldn't see a bird to flush. Seconds later the bird crawled out from under ...

Re: Solid Mass on Side (4yr Intact GSP)

Just my way of looking at this. Give thought to the previous comments. Dogs cost money , especially when their health becomes a problem. Personally ,I'd go with the biopsy and ultrasound ; I'd want to know what is going on. That is a young dog. I could afford that , but if you can't, that makes the ...

It is August. I don't get concerned about this forum unless we don't get many posts between September and December. "Gundogs" is also a very narrow subject. Our Ontario forum is pretty busy , but that because it is about fishing/hunting/ gundogs and also has an "off topic" section which is always bu...

Not a good day for me today ; I had to put my 11 year old dog down yesterday. Woke up yesterday and he couldn't walk ; turns out he had Cushing's disease.
