Re: Help me make a bird field
I should note that I am poor lol. I am 25, just bought a house and truck, paying student loans still, and getting engaged soon probably, money is limited.... I don't even have a lawnmower yet :( Also, I don't have an exact picture of it, but the field is at the back: http://thumbs.trulia-cdn.com/pic...

Help me make a bird field
So I finally got some land, a whopping 2.93 acres lol. have of it is my yard and the rest is just overgrown field. I want to plant some kind of grass in a couple of rows so I can plant some birds in it. I plan on having at least a pigeon coop with some homers and made a johnny house for some quail. ...

Re: e collar recommendations
You probably still want to have the collar on the dog whenever you are taking him/her out. You want him/her to get used to the collar and not have a bad association when you do start actually using it. Right now you want to create the association that the collar means getting to run etc.

Help with breaking my dog
I have a dog that just turned 2. I was going to wait until after the hunting season this fall to even think about breaking him, but he has started to come along nicely with hardly any pressure from myself, so I thought I might as well try and break him this summer. We have been working on just pigeo...

I would have to definitely second Chad Holman. He has trained a couple national champion britts and have to agree that one month isn't enough. Send him for the rest of the summer if you're going to send him to a trainer.

At the last Vizsla sponsored trial I was at there was one Gun Dog third place taken by a Vizsla. The winners were all GSPs, with a couple of young pointers also placing. If you want to find out last year's winners of the trial you will be attending go to the AKC website, select events & awards, put...

Different breeds, which run biggest? smallest?
I am pretty much looking to know how britts compare in how big they run compared to vizslas as I'm running a vizsla trial next weekend, but also, as far as pointing breeds go, how would you rank the biggest running breeds down to the smallest running breeds?

I would force fetch him over the summer. As it sounds like you already know, dogs tend to not like retrieving woodcock because of the feathers or something, similar to a dove in terms of like.

When working on your dog's steadiness, if he keeps wanting to bust in and grab birds, what do you do besides keeping him on the check cord? Is this where I would use a launcher while keeping him on a check cord and when I see that he's scented the bird, release the bird if he does stop immediately?...
