Re: Virus Papillomas (warts)

I have used a homeopathic called thuja occidentalis. They come in small pills that you dissolve in their drinking water. Very effective in my case.

Re: Dominance Issue??

Thanks everyone for your input. In the past, I have taken the lab out with us bird hunting. He likes being out in the desert - until the shotgun goes off - then he heads for his "safe spot" - right between my legs! He's a sweet soul, but he's no hunter. I don't recall any fight incidences when I've ...

Dominance Issue??

I need some advice. I have a 7 year old male lab and 5 year old male EP. Neither has been neutered. They basically spend 24/7 together, except when I take the EP out hunting. The lab doesn't hunt. Several times when I have returned the dogs have gotten into a real fur ball fight - even drawing blood...

A right click does give me the option to "show picture", but it when I click on "show picture", nothing happens.

Help seeing pictures.....

I posted this request before and didn't get any responses so here goes again..... There are many posts that I look at that either the picture(s) in the post or the avatar picture will just show a block with an "x" and "image". I've tried turning off the pop-up blocker and reviewing my user control p...

Refused to retrieve...

My 3 year old male EP is not the best bird retriever, but most of the time he makes a serious effort to bring the birds to hand. He has not been forced fetched. I had him out recently on some pen-raised pheasants and chuckars. The first bird he pointed was a hen chuckar and when I flushed it I didn'...

Help with pictures in posts

There are many posts that I look at that either the picture(s) in the post or the avatar picture will just show the word "image". I've tried turning off the pop-up blocker and reviewing my user control panel to make a change but so far nothing has worked. Please help. Thanks.

Allowing cuts and scrapes to heal?

I hunt in the desert and everything has a thorn or a spike or some other means of cutting and scraping my dog. He does a good job - sometimes too good when he does it in the middle of the night - of licking these minor wounds and healing them up. My question is when should I not let him lick a wound...

Re: Dog throws up after eating

I have a lab that used to do the same thing. Put the dog's food bowl up on a small box or some other means of elevating the food. I also put a good sized rock in his bowl with the food...it slows him down and doesn't let him wolf it.

Pest Control

The area where I live is divided up into 3+ acre properties. Many of the neighbors have livestock, I do not. I have 2 dogs and try to keep their poop cleaned up, but still have a nasty fly problem. Standard equipment for being outdoors during the warm months includes a flyswatter. I would like to us...

Re: Chase's first hunting season

We were up there for the pheasants, but they had a great year for sharptails - so we ended up getting as many of them as we did pheasants.

Yep, that was home. It was a decent place to stay and the price wasn't bad. The guy that runs Lakeside also has dogs and was very willing to help.

Chase's first hunting season

I'd like to share some pictures of my hunting dog's first season with me: One of the few times I got him to stand still. http://i426.photobucket.com/albums/pp345/r49904/Chase%202008-09/2008NorthernAZHunt-Chase1-1.jpg Chase's first wild bird point. http://i426.photobucket.com/albums/pp345/r49904/Chas...

I have been trying to set up an avatar picture, but all of the pictures I have are larger than the 291+KiB that the site allows. How can I re-size a picture so that I can use it in the avatar?

Re: Treatment for an injured tail

Thanks, all. He was acting kind of puny the day after, but he is back to his normal self - only at half-staff. The area is still swollen and tender, so I am going let it go for a couple more days.

Treatment for a injured tail

I hunted my 20 mo. old EP this weekend and the second bone from the base is now swollen and is very painful for him - if I touch it or he bumps it on something he yelps. He isn't holding the tail up nor does he wag it. Other than time, is there anything I could or should be doing to help him heal?

Hello from Arizona

Hey All: I'm a new member from Arizona. My wife and I have been married almost 38 years. We have 2 grown daughters and 3 grandkids. The bumper stickers are right - if we'd have known grandkids were so much fun, we would have had them first! I got my first bird dog - an elhew pup - a couple of months...

Bird Interest

My 17 mo. old english pointer shows a great deal of interest in the pigeons that I set out for him. He locks up on them and holds his point - for the most part - until I flush the bird. If I shoot it, he is quick to get to the bird and retrieve it. So I know that all the basics are there. I have had...
