Re: Sweeping downhill shots at Chukar
And one more ... Once you've chased them up the hill a few times and they fly downhill before you get a shot, they'll decide they've had enough fun: on their last downhill flight they will increase their aerodynamic capability (follow along at home). As we all know, they only have five tail feathers...

Unless I missed it, nobody mentioned the best reason to tether pigeons: homers you just bought will home to their original loft and you'll be buying them again.

We really didn't start improving our odds on chuks until we practiced shooting while balancing on two bowling balls on a 30 degree slope in our house slippers immediately after doing a 1/4 mile uphill windsprint and having a buddy simultaneously spritz water in our eyes to simulate sweat. If you wa...

Re: Tires for chewing?
Just remember a few things about tires as chew toys: Radials will make your dog handle better at speed; 8-ply sidewalls will help him in rough terrain (no need for a protective vest); and he'll get better traction after chewing a tire with a mud & snow tread. (Note to pointer owners: this is a joke ...

Wow. How do you all REALLY feel?
I'll only add to the discussion one thing: baited, aerated, stream, muddy or otherwise, if you offer water frequently during a hunt (every 15 minutes early season here), the dog can then "decide" whether he wants it or not. If you don't offer, he can't decide.
