Re: Odd behaviour
She isn't swollen. She's ok with his sniffing and even some licking but once he gets too excited, she gives him a correction. When she was intact, and in full blown heat, she was never receptive to males.

I have an older spayed bitch and a young male dog. For the second time in the last 6 months, he is acting like she is in heat :?: He has gone off of his food, whimpers around her, is constantly trying to sniff at her or where she has been. Anyone use Sportmix? Local Tractor Supply has the 24/20 and 26/18 versions in stock. Have a heavy coated breed whose coat seems a bit dull. Bird digger2: I agree with your assessment. However, I feed by the cup and would want the food that provides the most energy per cup. I would assume the 30/20 is a smaller, denser kibble, and therefore has more energy per each 8 oz cup. In this case, though, the two are so close in terms of kcal per...

This kind of thing always bugs me. I look at two similar foods from the same manufacturer. As long as you don't overfeed, Pro Plan 30/20 should be fine. However, if you overfeed the large breed puppy, regular puppy, or even an adult feed, the overfeeding is more likely to lead to problems.

I was at our local PetSmart this weekend when I saw a HUGE Chocolate Lab. Unusually large. I struck up a conversation with the owners who told me he was a Labrador - Weimaraner cross. It was fun to watch her run. Fast CAT trials provide the speed in mph and a point system based on the height of the dog. She is a small dog but still clocked in at 21.35 mph. Puppy is a very quick eater and always wants more. If you give more, he will eat it and look for more. I've never really been able to get my head around this issue, but as I understand it, ME per KG is a more meaningful number than KCal per cup.
