Re: Hearing to Ban all Hunting Dogs in California
See that little Griff puppy in my avatar? He got into a strychnine bait while we were out hunting. I watched him go blind, staggering around and foaming at the mouth. Then came convulsions. My long time bud died right in front of me. I can help my dog out of a leg hold type trap. Big conibear traps ...

Re: Traditional Grain-Based Foods vs. Grain-Free Foods - Vote
I put my female on grain-free food throughout her pregnancy and until the pups went home. The reason I chose to do this was so that pup buyers could make up their own mind about whether or not to feed grains to their pup. I personally do feed a food with grains and my dogs do great on it.

Jim, the puppy in my avatar was purchased for service and is trained and registered as a working service dog. She is a wirehaired pointing griffon. She sheds probably a million times less than my Lab. The breed as a whole is typically friendly, intelligent, biddable, and mellow. That might be a dire...

As I breeder I would strive to create a dog that has no limitations on its abilities and applications - it will range if you need it to, it will babysit small children and it will retrieve what you send it for. To imply that any of those on incongruous with one another is simply to sell a dog short...

I would not actively seek to own a true AA dog. I am a foot hunter without horses. That 1,500 yard dog is certainly NOT better suited for me than a 2-400 yard dog. The AA dog would be an ill-suited frustration for most foot hunters. I also prefer to actually watch the dog work. I don't want to be wa...

The Cambridge (British) definition of the noun feed is "food that is used to feed animals that are not pets".
Oxford, however, defines the noun feed as "a meal for an animal" or "food for animals or plants".
It seems even the dictionaries have different definitions.

The eggs after they are ovulated, take 48 hours to become ripe and able to be fertilized by the sperm. The eggs are only viable for another 48 hours for the sperm to fertilize them. Thus there is only a 48 hour window for fertilization. The most a pup can be older or younger than its littermates is...
