I am fixing to order one on Monday. My question is, Can SportDOG collars be used with it? The ASTRO has 1" wide straps and the SportDOG Receivers utilize a 3/4" strap.

Go with a 20 or 12 gauge gun that FITS him. A 28 is a sweet little gun but as per another thread on here costs a lot to shoot unless you reload. I can only imagine what Steel costs for a 28 if you can even get it? (I'm sure somebody makes non-toxic factory ammunition for it)

I really like my Legacy 28. As a matter of fact I just got home about an hour ago from streching her legs around the skeet field. :D The thing about a 28 is that if you plan to shoot them very much at all you need to reload or be independantly wealthy. They cost a fortune to shoot factory ammunition...

Right now we have a litter of seven English Pointer pups that are almost 6 weeks old... Their favorite chew toys are my toes when I forget and wear flip flops out into the kennel building to feed them, or let them out into the yard for socialization and exercise. :lol:

Jim K & Slistoe make good points. Labs can be very effective depending on your style of hunting. However Labs (Black ones especially) just cant take the warmth. I hunt with several guys who use 28s, I've used a few. What I don't like about 28's: 1. Unless you go to a premium gun, usually over $2500, you will have a gun that weighs more than a 20. That is because most 28's are built on a 20 ga or 12 ga frame. Not always... The Legacy 28 is the worlds lighte...

Well, for comparison my Owens box compartment dimensions are 24"W x 44"D X 18"H and I can fit 2 dogs in each one. I have on occasion put my Pointer Stud (whos around 65 lbs) and my Lab together in the same stall.
